D-Fence
D-Fence (2010) is an acoustic labyrinth of 200 meters tuned fencework, in which you can loose yourself or find yourself trapped into melodics. Nowadays Europe, fortress of no-tresspassing-beyond-this-point, area of closed gates, high fences and CCTV in the backyard. There once was a time we could live without even the thought of this protectionism, without a mass of keys to carry, without a state-of-the-art lock on your toilet. D-Fence is about getting tangled in overprotection. A labyrinth, made of 200-meter burglar-safe fencework, in which visitors might get lost while making music. The only way to get out is to find the right melody, the only thing to hold on is a small wooden stick. D-Fence is a transportable set of 80 steel fences, which can be set up in any configuration. The fences are tuned in six different tones, following the Javanese gamelan principle: even if 20 people are dangling around, harmony remains. © All images, texts and the idea of the artists work are subject to the German copyright law and if pro rata the relevant collecting society and if pro rata the photographer.
